TIPS AND INFO

What Are Pesticides?

Pesticides are poisons designed to kill a variety of plants and animals such as insects (insecticides), weeds (herbicides), and mold or fungus (fungicides). Pesticides include active ingredients (chemical compounds designed to kill the target organisms) and inert ingredients, which may be carcinogens or toxic substances. They also include rodenticides and wood preservatives.

How Do Pesticides Reach Us?

Pesticides can be absorbed through the skin, swallowed or inhaled (most toxic). During application pesticides drift and settle on ponds, laundry, toys, pools and furniture. People and pets track pesticide residue into the house . Only 5% of pesticides reach target weeds. The rest runs off into water or dissipates in the air. Drift from landscaping ranges from 12 feet to 14.5 miles . More serious effects appear to be produced by direct inhalation of pesticide sprays than by absorption or ingestion of toxins.

Are Registered Pesticides Safe?

NO. Many of the “safety tests” used to test these products are fundamentally inadequate: they test for the acute (not chronic) effects of single (not multiple) chemicals on healthy (not sick, chemically sensitive or immuno-suppressed etc.) adult (not feta l or young) animal (not human) subjects exposed over short (not long) periods of time . Some of the companies testing pesticides have been charged and convicted of falsifying residue and environmental studies that were used to support pesticide registration in the US and Canada . Some pesticides become even more toxic as they break down. (In the US it is a violation of federal law to state that the use of pesticides is safe.) Pesticides initiate and propagate multiple chemical sensitivities. About 16 million US citizens are sensitive to pesticides (i.e. they have compromised immune functioning as a result of pesticide exposure).

Besides Sensitivity And Toxicity What Other Health Risks Are There?

  • Increased Risk Of Leukemia
  • Cancers (Lung, Brain, Testicular, Lymphoma)
  • Increase In Spontaneous Abortions
  • Greater Genetic Damage
  • Decreased Fertility
  • Liver And Pancreatic Damage
  • Neuropathy
  • Disturbances To Immune Systems (Asthma/Allergies)
  • Increases In Stillbirths
  • Decreased Sperm Counts

What Are The Main Risks For Children?

Children whose homes and gardens are treated with pesticides have 6.5 times greater risk of leukemia than children living in untreated environments.

  • Cancer: Leukemia And Brain Cancer
  • Asthma And Allergies
  • Polyneuritis With Numbness And Pain In Lower Limbs.
  • Altered Neurological Functioning And Long-Lasting Neuro-Behavioral Impairments.
  • Birth Defects
  • Neurotoxicity
  • Gangrene (Tissue Death) Of The Extremities

Who Is Most Susceptible?

Children, Infants And Fetuses: Relative To Adults, Children Have More Rapid Breathing And Metabolic Rates, Greater Surface To Body Mass Ratios, Thinner Skins, Spend More Time In Contact With The Ground, More Frequently Place Their Fingers In Their Mouths, And Are Less Likely To Be Able To Read Hazard Signs.
Adults: Especially Those With Asthma, Lupus Erythematosus, Vasculitis, Dermatitis And Chemical Sensitivities .
Animals: Pets, Wildlife Of All Kinds And Their Habitat.

What Are The Effects On Animals And Wildlife?

Animals may develop:

  • Cancer
  • Abnormal Thyroid Function
  • Decreased Fertility
  • Decreased Hatching Success
  • Demasculinization And Feminization Of Males
  • Alteration Of Immune Function
  • Birds Die After Eating Granular Pesticides.

What Are Synergistic Effects?

Simultaneous exposures frequently cause synergistic effects, where toxicities of individual toxins can be vastly magnified. Most pesticides contain more than one chemical and during spraying season, most people are exposed to more than one product as they move around their neighborhoods.

Studies for synergistic effects are not required by the EPA for registration of these substances , even though these effects regularly occur when chemicals interact in nature .

What About Unlisted “Inert” Ingredients?

  • 3700 Chemicals Can Legally Be Concealed In Pesticides.– Dr J. Irwin.
  • They Can Comprise Up To 97% Of Products Like Weed Killers.
  • These So Called Inerts Are Often Insecticides Such As Ddt Or Contaminants Such As Dioxin.
  • “Inerts” May Be Even More Toxic Than The Active Ingredients Which Are Listed On The Labels. {4} (Ie. Reyes Syndrome Was Linked To An Ingredient Additive That Allowed The Pesticide To Stick On The Trees.)
  • Fertilizer Sprays Also May Contain Poisonous Solvents.
  • Applicators Do Not Know The Danger Of Their Product Because They Don’t Know The Identity Of The”Inert” Ingredients.
  • Inerts Sometimes Include Benzene, Known Human Carcinogen (If It Were Spilled On The Highway, It Would Be Considered A Toxic Chemical Spill.)

What Are The Alternatives?

Non-toxic chemical-free lawn care is available. Indoor and outdoor Bio-Tool kits are available for institutions, golf courses, schools, green houses and many applications. These approaches are compatible with composting, with home vegetable gardens, gardening for wildlife, and with children walking to school safely.

Chemical Pesticides have only been in existence for about 50 years. Gardeners, farmers, and foresters have always had to control pests, using methods like crop rotation, companion planting, biological controls. It is only recently that pest management has become virtually synonymous with the use of chemical pesticides. We must reverse this unsustainable trend. Ecological methods of pest control must replace the over-dependence on chemicals that now threatens us all.

Why Are Pesticides Used?

  • Most People Are Unaware Of Pesticide Dangers. (Most Companies Claim They Are “Safe”!)
  • Most People Do Not Know That Non-Toxic Lawn Care Is Available.
  • There Is A Powerful Economic Incentive For Large Chemical Companies To Promote Pesticides. In 1987 The Companies Ranked By Pesticide Sales Include: DuPont – $510 Million, Monsanto – $480 Million, ICI – $460 Million, Ciba Geigy $450 Million . This, Today, Is Considered A Growth “Toxic” Industry.

How Effective Are Lawn Chemicals?

Chemical fertilizers and pesticides on lawns weaken the grass and destroy the natural balance of microbes and beneficial insect predators, thus promoting weed and insect proliferation.

  • Despite A 10 – Fold Increase In Insecticide Use, Studies Have Shown A Proliferation In Types Of Pests From Fewer Than 10 To More Than 300 .
  • Of The 25 Most Serious Insect Pests In California In 1970, 24 Were Secondary Pests (Produced Because Of Insecticides) And 73% Are Resistant To One Or More Insecticides.

No more roaches

Not seeing any roaches since plugging it in

Good for rats

Trying these out because I’ve been dealing with some rats lately. The product is simple and gives off a soft light. It reminds me of a night light. Worked well when I plugged it in by my back door.

affordable

Setting it up was simple. I live in a place where roaches usually show up as soon as you open the door, but I haven’t seen any since using this. It’s a good size and seems to be working well. The small light shows it’s on and active.

Easy to use

Easy to use so far it's working

Disappearing mice

This seems to actually work! No mice in the walls.

The jury is still out

I first plugged this in about 2 weeks ago. I haven't seen any mice since, but that might be because the weather is warming up. I have still been seeing plenty of roaches. It says you'll see results after 2-4 weeks of consistent results, so I'm not sure what to think yet. I will try to update this review in a few weeks.

Effective and Easy Pest Control Solution

I bought the Pest Repeller for my home about 2 weeks back and it has been doing a fantastic job. Set up was as simple as just plugging it in. Within a week I noticed a huge drop in mice and roaches. I love that it is chemical-free as it works around some frequencies or electric signals. It is safe for pets and works quietly. It is perfect for my home, garage and kitchen--no pests, no mess! I would highly recommend this product as the price is very reasonable, and it does the job as advertised.

Works well

Plugged it in and just let it do its thing. I haven’t seen any bugs around since using it. It's easy to set up and doesn’t take up much space. So far it’s doing what I hoped for. I like that I don’t have to deal with traps or sprays. It just quietly works in the background.

It worked...and then the spiders came back.

I'm on the fence. I got this for spiders in a basement bedroom. I thought it was working. But now the spiders are back. Did they just get used to the "noise?" I don't know. Not sure about the science involved in these units. I like that the green light shows it's "working." I don't hear any noise - so that's good. I read that these types are best for small rooms or entry points. I may try moving it to the back door.

Works well with pets

This pest repeller seems to be working well. We have had a few rodent friends camping in our pool pump house for the warmth. Since putting this in we haven"t noticed anymore droppings. I like that it is pet safe so I don't worry about our dogs getting hold of a poisoned rodent and poisoning themselves. It is simple to use by just plugging into an outlet and you aren't having to deal with any smell or mess.

Hard to define a void, but the absence speaks volumes

I have wonderful trees in my direct backyard, in the south, which means wood roaches are a real problem. This time of year, they're especially prevalent, and my cats can't always catch them all. Prior to ordering this, I was dealing with at least one every evening, creeping in as the sun went down. Since plugging this in three days ago, I haven't seen a single one. Is this a coincidence? Did one of the escapees spread the word that the crazy woman in the house will murder them with impunity? Is this item actually working? Only time will tell. But the absence of them is VERY noticeable, and I'm quietly optimistic that plugging this little guy in near my backdoor has made a very real difference.

Actually works!! Peace of mind without chemicals

I was quite skeptical at first, but after using this Pest Offense plug-in repellent for over a month, I must say it has made a noticeable difference. We live in an apartment and were seeing small roaches and ants in the kitchen, especially at night. After plugging this in, the activity has reduced drastically — it’s almost gone! What I really appreciate is that there’s no smell, no sprays, no mess. Just plug and forget. There is a small green light which shows it’s working. Very easy to use.As someone who grew up in India where pest problems are common, I’ve seen all kinds of sprays, chalks, and traps — this is much cleaner and safer, especially with my baby nephew visiting home often. No need to worry about him touching anything harmful. It may take a few days to start showing effect, so give it some time. But once it kicks in, it really helps. I’m planning to get one more for the guest room.Highly recommended if you’re looking for a chemical-free solution!

Great Product

Great product! Works quickly and efficiently to humanely rid rodents from your walls and home. Also safe around kids and your dogs and cats which everyone is always concerned with. Will buy again if ever needed!!!!

Works Like a Charm – No More Pests!

I recently got the New Look PEST OFFENSE Electronic Pest Repeller, and it’s been a game-changer! Installation was as easy as plugging it into an outlet, and I started noticing fewer pests within days. It’s completely silent, chemical-free, and safe around my pets, which is a huge plus. I have it set up in my kitchen, and I haven’t seen a single mouse or roach since. Great effective product for the price point and does its job well - have not seen any of the same pests that I had seen before. Highly recommend for anyone looking for simple and effective pest control!

Recommended

I’ve been using Pest Offense for problems related to both roaches and rodents. The product does seem to work and I’ve observed noticeable differences in infestation before and after using the device.Honestly, it was a refreshing experience in this category as I was tired of using cheap ultrasound products.

Works great

They really work . Love this brand .

rodent still in the basement

it does not work

No

Maybe runs roaches away but not rodents. Had a smaller old one, cheap, worked far better

Seems to work!

Surprisingly effective, didn't expect much but have noticed way fewer roaches roaming in the kitchen only after a couple of weeks of use. Would recommend as it just plugs into the wall and does its thing.

Best Pest Control Device On The Market - Attacks Problem At Root!

This pest control device works far better than other on the market and is 10 times easier, as it’s just plug and play (plus alot more bang for your buck and value for money - truly attacks the problem at the core, and in the week + that I have used the product I have seen a noticeable decrease in the cockroaches, gnats, flies and other insects that were first in the house.I put the device in a central location, and it covers a large amount of room (nearly all of downstairs), and is barely noticeable. The lights are not noticeable, and our dog does not have any issues with it as well - as other devices emit noises and this is very quiet noise levels and does not emit loud frequencies that dogs can be annoyed by.Wish more people knew about this device, and highly recommend choosing this as a core target solution to any pest issues you may have for your house! Considering buying more for upstairs as well, or using this one for other locations! 10/10! 👍🏽
